The Woman of Shunem was a kind and wealthy lady who happily shared her home with Prophet Elisha whenever he travelled through town. She and her husband even built a small room on the roof of their house so Elisha would have a comfortable place to stay. Wanting to thank her for her generosity, Elisha promised that she would have a son.
Several years later, the boy went to help his father in the fields but suddenly became very sick, crying that his head hurt. A servant carried him home to his mother, who held him on her lap and tried to comfort him. Tragically, by noon the little boy died in her arms.
