Killer Foxtails

Foxtails may look harmless, but they can be very dangerous. Once, one little foxtail seed became lodged in my puppy’s ear. It caused an infection that almost killed her. Another time a foxtail seed got stuck in my horse’s mouth. It worked its way into her jaw and, if the vet hadn’t done surgery, that one little seed would have killed that great big horse.
Once you understand the reason behind what someone says, it’s much easier to believe them.
Rules are like that. Parents don’t make rules just to be bossy. There’s always a reason, and once you understand the reason, it’s much easier to obey.
God’s instructions are like that too.
King Saul’s story reminds us that ignoring God’s instructions can lead to trouble, while taking time to understand and follow them leads to happiness.
