Welcome back to the Easter story, the saddest and happiest story in the Bible.
Late at night, Jesus goes to a place He often prayed and asks His closest friends to keep watch. As Jesus prays, He chooses God’s will over selfishness, even though He knows suffering is coming.
While Peter tries to stay close in the darkness, fear takes over, and he denies Jesus three times, then runs away in tears when he remembers what Jesus had predicted. Judas also realizes, too late, that his plan has gone terribly wrong, and he makes the tragic mistake of believing he cannot be forgiven.
Jesus is brought from the high priest’s house to the Roman governor, Pilate, where lies and jealousy build into a heartbreaking decision.
By Friday morning, Jesus is mocked, beaten, and led away, and the disciples’ world is turned upside down as the Easter story continues.
