The story of Jesus and the Last Supper is “the saddest and happiest story in the Bible.” As Jesus shares a Passover meal with His disciples, He shocks them by washing their feet like a servant, warns them about betrayal, and uses bread and the cup to help them understand His coming sacrifice and God’s love.
Tips for Telling the Story:
Do not rush it (this is not a five-minute bedtime story)
Make lots of stops to notice what Jesus said, learn from people’s mistakes, and explain the word pictures (feet washing as forgiveness for growing Christians, bread and drink as taking in God’s truth).
Keep coming back to the big message of John 3:16.
“For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son…”
