Words have power! Proverbs 18:21 says:
Words kill, words give life; they’re either poison or fruit - you choose. (MSG)
My dad experienced some hurtful words as a young boy that have stayed with him ever since – seventy years! Those words acted like poison.
My dad spoke some kind words to me when I was a young girl that have stayed with me ever since – forty years! Those words acted like fruit.
Connecting Proverbs 18:21 with the fruit of the Spirit listed in Galatians 5:22–23, helps remind us to think before we speak and choose words that grow love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
