When my daughter was little, she loved playing in the sink while I worked in the kitchen. All kinds of toys went swimming, rocks were carefully washed and sorted, and sleeves were often wet.

So, if you're trying to get a few things done in the kitchen while keeping your on-the-go kid in tow, some sink play may be the answer.

Better yet, if you have dishes to wash, you can change the general sink play into this Noah’s Ark in the Sink activity!

With it, you’ll be teaching your kid to be a big helper while reinforcing a Bible story which shows that God always keeps His promises!

As your kid helps to rinse the dishes, they can test out which ones float well.

Which ones would make a good ark?

Talk about how God told Noah how to build the ark so it wouldn’t be tippy.

Some shapes are very tippy!

Talk about how God PROMISED that Noah and his family would be safe in the ark.

Add some "animals" to the ones that float well.

Which "ark" is the sturdiest? How many animals will it hold?

For the crafty...make a reusable ark!

Upcycle and create your own ark!

Begin by stapling the spout closed. Then, cut open one side of your container. (You can get creative here!)

March out your plastic animals and see how many can fit in the ark. (This is also a great activity at bath time!)

Another Lesson Learned in the Sink

As I mentioned above, my daughter loved to play in the sink when she was younger.

One day, she also learned the consequences of not listening to Mom’s warning…

“It is too small for the sink. It could go down the drain and be lost forever.”

She didn’t listen and Mom was right, but a valuable lesson was learned that day.
