Jesus’ story of the Sower and the Seed talks about a farmer planting many seeds. Some of them fell on a pathway, and the birds ate them. Some of them fell in rocky or weed-filled soil, but some landed in good dirt. They grew tall and strong; each plant making many more seeds.
Jesus then explained how the different types of dirt are like different kinds of people. When some people hear about God but don’t understand, Satan snatches the message away quickly – like the birds eating the seeds. Some people are like rocky soil. They let God’s love grow a little, but when trouble comes, they give up. Some people are like weedy soil. They let the worries of life take over. But some people are like good soil. They hear about God, they listen and understand, and they let that message change their lives!
