Jesus used simple stories to teach about God. Some of His stories were about lost things being found.
In the story of the lost sheep, Jesus shows that God deeply cares for every individual and actively looks to find those who are “lost,” celebrating with joy when they are found.
I visited my neighbour’s farm and learned more about what sheep are like...
A lost sheep or lamb would feel hungry and scared but wouldn’t be able to find their way home.
In the same way, there are people who have stopped loving God and have gotten themselves into trouble. They know it, but they don’t know how to ask God to forgive them. They need help, and God has all kinds of ways to find them and bring them home. They don’t have to feel embarrassed about getting lost because Jesus says that there is a party in Heaven when someone who was lost gets found!
